Privacy Policy

We believe that the value of a tool is in the value it delivers to its users. First Mile Geo offers a tool that enables its users to collect, manage, and visualize data in some of the world’s most opaque markets within organizations and enterprises of many types. To be of value, the primary focus is on giving you the tool you need to do your job better. We have a Privacy Policy though so that you know something about our intentions, how we work, and how you will be treated as a user.

User Privacy

First Mile Geo collects some basic data on its users with the intent to enhance the service provided to its users. For example, we collect IP addresses on our server logs, as well as information like your internet domain, the date and time of your visit, and the pages you access within the First Mile Geo site. Like just about everything else on the internet, we do use Cookies and log user data, but as with other user information that data is used exclusively to enhance the performance and service provided to users. We do not share this data –or any personally identifiable information –at any time, unless required by law, and use this data internally and only to better assess the services we provide.

Data Privacy

Data uploaded by you onto the system is assumed yours. Your data is private until you say otherwise. First Mile Geo does not share your data for you. Rather it is treated as yours. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

Open Data

Data is a form of infrastructure. In many cases, this infrastructure can and should be a public good. Where data is a public good, users have the ability to download and make available that data to the public. We give that choice to the user. Whether it’s an international development organization or a part of a corporate social responsibility program, any data and associated visualizations that a user would like to download and share can do so, provided it is theirs to manage in the first place.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline.
